The MK18 MOD 1 is an evolution of the compact M4 carbine, developed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) for U.S. special forces, particularly the Navy SEALs. Initially introduced in the 2000s as the MK18 MOD 0, the model was designed to meet the needs of operations in urban and confined spaces, thanks to a short 10.3-inch barrel that offers excellent maneuverability without sacrificing firepower. The MK18 MOD 1 introduced improvements with a more modern handguard, the Daniel Defense RIS II, allowing for optimized accessory mounting and better ergonomics. Designed for modularity, the MK18 MOD 1 can accommodate various equipment, such as sights, grips, and night vision devices, in response to the specific needs of close tactical missions.

Manufactured by VFC, the Mk18 Mod1 is characterized by its external:
