The Sig P226 is a Semi-Automatic pistol designed by the Swiss-German firm Sig Sauer and developed to answer a call for tender from the US Army to replace the Colt 1911. It was finally the Beretta M9 that was adopted. However, the weapon was adopted by a number of armed forces including the Navy SEALs under the name Mk25 Mod.0. The weapon was declined under several versions like the P229 which is its compact version.
